This week, #TeamPwC celebrated Autism Awareness in conjunction with the ESG Race! We went from learning how to support neurodiverse colleagues at work to drumming away with Everett, who's on the spectrum, to create music and build connections through rhythm. An end to a wholesome week, #TeamPwC came around to support social enterprises at our Impact Bazaar, shopping handmade batik pieces, surplus food products, baked goods and more. Thanks for joining us in celebrating inclusion! #MYPwCExperience #AutismAwareness #ESG

UOB Malaysia recently held the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) Supply Chain Imperatives Masterclass to prepare businesses for the European Union's (EU) CBAM requirements set to take effect in 2026. The CBAM is a carbon border tax that puts a fair price on the carbon emitted during the production of carbon-intensive goods entering the EU, and is expected to impact 75% of Malaysian exporters to the EU. This Masterclass, in collaboration with PwC Malaysia, is one of the many ways we help local businesses improve their competitiveness by equipping them with the knowledge and strategies to navigate the new regulatory landscape as well as the challenges and opportunities that CBAM presents.

Former Audit Intern at PwC | PwC Malaysia Trust Ambassador (Pioneer Cohort) | GAMUDA Scholar | HR Director at Sunway Management Consulting Club | Year 2 Accounting and Finance

It's been a while since I last shared an update, but today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey I have had with PwC Malaysia. Over the past year, I've had the privilege of serving as a Trust Ambassador and completing a three-month internship within the Assurance department. This experience went beyond professional milestones, profoundly shaping my self-discovery and growth. Each moment, from the exhilarating highs to the challenging lows, has left an indelible mark on my life. One highlight was the recent campus event -IndustryXperience 2024 held at the PwC office, where I served as an emcee for the very first time. Stepping out of my comfort zone filled me with anxiety, but as I stood on that stage, I felt empowered. It wasn't perfect, but that’s alright. At least, I gave myself a chance to try. Thanks to my ambassador colleague, Chan Jing Mun (Moon) for her unwavering persistence amid our challenges. A heartfelt thank goes to HR team- Adilah Kokatay, Maisyahirah Che Ros, Radha Lakshimi and Soffi Shuhada - for their continuous support in making this ambassador programme a meaningful one. Special thanks to Mona Abu Bakar for her presence during the event day 🤩 It was a pleasure conversing with her and gaining invaluable insights into new job prospects. Additionally, I want to express my sincere appreciation to our esteemed panelists, Lee Xiang Tan, Almaz A. and Sarah, and our networking guests, Steven Soon, Zack, and Vincent Siew for taking the time out of their busy schedules to generously share insights and experiences with our participants. ———————————————————————— [15.01.2024-29.03.2024 Internship] Interning within the Assurance department (TCCP) was a profound experience. Working alongside my team seniors on the audit for a telecommunications company, I gained invaluable insights and sharpened my interpersonal skills. I am thankful to my team seniors for their guidance and mentorship, which shaped my growth in ways I never imagined. Here’s some key takeaways from this journey: 1. Strive for progression, not perfection As a former perfectionist, I often struggled with procrastination. During the intensity of my internship's peak season and ambassador event planning, I learnt that prioritization is key. It's not about doing everything flawlessly; it's about focusing on what truly matters and driving progress forward while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. 2. Effective communication Proactively updating your work progress with teammates and openly discussing any challenges you encounter are essential aspects of effective communication. This ensures that everyone is well-informed and enables timely adjustments to keep tasks on track. ———————————————————————— As I prepare to embark on the next chapter, I carry with me the invaluable lessons and cherished memories from my time at PwC Malaysia. With that, I officially sign off and close this #MYPwCExperience chapter with gratitude and pride.

Executive Chair and Assurance Partner at PwC Malaysia; Supporter of Upskilling for all

I gave my first graduation speech over the weekend at Sunway TES CAE’s 45th Graduation Ceremony for ACCA and ICAEW students. It brought back memories to my own graduation all those years ago, and I’m honoured to have been part of this milestone in these young accountants’ lives. As part of my speech I shared my views on the outlook for the accounting profession in Malaysia. I believe that accounting and finance remains an exciting career path. Many of our foremost business leaders were trained as accountants. And as auditors and finance professionals, the opportunities today are greater than ever to deliver value to our stakeholders - as business advisors and strategists - helping them navigate change and uncertainty. My two takeaways for the graduates, and any young professional today, are to have a continuous growth mindset and to be diligent in building relationships with your colleagues, leaders and clients. Congratulations Sunway TES CAE on your part in building up the nation’s accountants and all the very best to class of 2024.
